Free Library Nook Quilt Pattern for Earth Day

I’ve got an exciting gift for you today- a FREE pattern!  And there is also a sew along to go along with it!

In honor of Earth Day, I am sharing my first scrappy quilt pattern.  And, let’s be honest, all quilters could probably use the chance to do some Spring cleaning of their scrap bins!

I actually designed this quilt earlier in the year while struggling though a creative rut.  Rather than push through, I decided to do some low expectation sewing and see where it led me.  And this pattern was the result!  I have named it the Library Nook Quilt Pattern after the spot in our basement where our quilt lives.

You can download the pattern here.

Here are a few important details about the quilt:

-The pattern finishes at 49”x61” which is a good size for a lap quilt.  You could easily size the quilt up or down by adding or removing blocks.

-The pattern is 100% beginner friendly! Even if you have never tried English Paper Piecing, I have video tutorials that will walk you through step by step!

-This quilt is totally customizable.  If you prefer not to do the EPP blocks as flowers, you could easily substitute an applique block, foundation paper pieced block or just another nine-patch!

-As with any scrappy quilt, I find it really helpful to starch my fabric before sewing. This removes any deep wrinkles from being stuffed into my scrap storage! Here is a link to my favorite starch.

-Not required, but this ruler will make cutting your scraps SO MUCH EASIER!

And last, but certainly not least, there is going to be a Quilt Along!  Starting April 22 (Earth Day), I will be hosting an 8 week sew along with video tutorials and weekly emails.

Sign up here if you want to sew along together!
